Bootleg by The Garden
I have been trying to give The Garden a proper shot for a few years now, but I never felt like I was fully "there" for a release. Luckily, this year I was. I gave Bootleg a shot upon its release and fell in love with it. The record gives you tastes of punk, art-rock, and psych-rock as it feels like an energetic slap in the face. I love the bits of electronic production sprinkled throughout, making each song unique and unpredictable. For a band that has gradually been making noise within the scene, I can see this record taking them a bit further and hopefully giving them recognition they deserve. Now, I get the pleasure of revisiting their previous albums with the confirmation that I am indeed a fan of their work, but... you know, just without being a poser (of course).

Halcyon Blues by Citizen
As I have gotten older, Citizen has become one of my favorite bands. Period. Their songwriting, layered guitars, indie-emo influences, and stage presence make them so captivating to me. Furthermore, I have spoken in-depth to my friends about how I think Mat Kerekes is the most talented rock/emo singer of his generation with his ability to harmonically sing and then immediately turn it into a drawn out scream that makes your ears perk up. On Halcyon Blues, they went away from the happy, upbeat sound of their previous two records but kept the same breakneck pace that they moved with. The result is a Citizen record that is as hard as their first three, as indie rock as the previous three, and honestly, it just feels so "Citizen." Really don't know how else to put it. Also, I believe Mat engineered this one, giving it more of that raw feel he portrays in his solo work.

American Road in New Jersey by American Road in New Jersey
When this dropped out of nowhere in January, I was very excited to sit and grow with this one. My favorite artist, Roy Blair, teaming up with one of his best friends and talented producer, James Ivy. I have personal ties to the state of New Jersey, so their whole quick rollout with clips of the interstate and New jersey ambience had me hooked. The album itself is a tale of growth, confusion, and love as the two trade verses over beautiful guitars that are perfectly crafted for the end of wintertime. Upon first listen, I actually found it a bit slow and it honestly wasn't what I was expecting. As time has gone on, I think it is a wonderfully written, honest album that is designed to tell you how they were feeling at that exact moment. Some tracks are so stripped back that it feels like you are in the studio with them. Overall, lovely album and I am excited to listen to it when the weather gets cold again, no matter how ironic the title of my favorite song from the album is...

Most recent movie I watched
So... I watched G-Force recently. Yes, the movie about FBI guinea pigs that can talk. If there is a few positives about this movie, it would be that the CGI honestly was ahead of its time, the cast is insane (might be Nic Cage's best performance), and the Black Eyed Peas randomly soundtracked this whole movie with just two songs. It was entertaining but I am extremely glad it was only an hour and 28 minutes. It is one of those movies that you rewatch as a 22 year old adult and immediately feel like it was only meant for your 6 year old enjoyment. Not sure if I simply outgrew the humor, or if a movie where Zach Galifianakis is a mastermind that figures out a way to talk to special agent guinea pigs is a concept that doesn't age well. Maybe a mix of both.

Most recent concert/vinyl purchase
I recently went to see a rising artist perform at Elsewhere in Brooklyn named the sound chalk makes. He is an electronic/pop artist hailing all the way from Mumbai, using a CDJ to mix each of his songs as he sang and rapped over them. He came out in a red checkered polo button up, jeans, and sported a long mullet-ish haircut, portraying a unique style that captivated the crowd. His nonstop energy and movement properly controlled the crowd as the viewers fed off the aesthetic of everything. Overall, extremely talented artist that I think has huge upside. The last vinyl I purchased was Racing Mount Pleasant's self-titled album from last year. I now have 126 records on vinyl.
Travels/Hobbies
I have been very active on Duolingo this past month. I studied French for a few years in school and always felt like I was pretty good at it, but I had trouble with the grammar of the language. When I was in Europe this summer, I met someone from France who was using Duolingo to learn English and he was very proficient at our language. When he told me he had only been studying for a year, I was shocked. So, shoutout to the random Frenchman that I encountered in Barcelona. If our paths ever cross again, I am hoping I can be good enough to have a conversation in his native language this time. Also, Duolingo is actually fun. I am starting to be anti-phone/anti-screen time, but I guess if it is benefiting me then it's okay if my numbers are a little high. Au revoir.
Wait... Who even am I?
I am Vincent Robert Gallucci IV. I was born in Atlanta, Georgia, where I spent most of my life until moving to Florida during my Junior year of high school. I am the son of Vincent and Nicole Gallucci, two Italian, New Jersey born parents who raised me in a very old school fashion. They owned Italian restaurants my whole life, so most of my childhood was consumed by busy Friday nights in a hectic kitchen where I would help any way I could. Outside of the restaurant, I played baseball, basketball, and football, with basketball being my main love of the three. I still watch all 82 Knicks games, and if we are lucky, I glue myself to the TV for the playoffs. I attended college at Florida State University where I expanded my media, marketing, and people skills. There, I became the creative director of a media company and fell in love with all things artistic, musical, or entertaining. Currently, I am a few months removed from graduating and searching for a job in any industry that combines those three aspects. I enjoy bike rides, making music, a suspenseful TV show, and spending time with the people closest to me.
